Drop it in water or drop it from a height, but this phone will still look as good as ever. It's called the Marine and is from Samsung.
With a red rubber coat around, it looks smart. The anti-shock urethane material protects the edges from water and dust. At the back are screws to safely lock the battery cover. Screws that can be opened with a coin.
Thankfully, Samsung has not compromised on the looks to make this tough phone.
Samsung claims that Marine can hold its breath for almost 30 minutes underwater. The Marine can also survive in high temperatures, upto 60 degrees Celsius.
The solid extreme phone also sports some butch features such as extra-loud external speakers, noise cancellation and a pretty bright LED light.
Marine also has SOS option, inside. In case of an emergency, the SOS key can ring loud enough to be heard miles away. It has a mobile tracker feature as well.
Apart from the basic features like messaging, calendar and world clock, the Marine also has multimedia options like video media player, FM radio, picture editor and an interesting set of games.
Samsung did put in a lot of thought and work in making Marine.
Yet on the inside it could have done a little better. It has a mere 1.3 megapixel camera and a incredibly small internal memory space of just 6MB.
If you want to download songs take pictures or record videos, purchasing another memory card is the only option.
Talk time limit is about nine hours with the 1000mAh battery. Marine being an adventurers phone, could have done better here.
But despite these limitations, Marine will easily attract a good market share because of its many useful features. Samsung has already dropped this phone in stores. Go get one if you must. It is priced well at Rs 7030.
